Surrogacy Timeline for Intended Parents

Surrogacy Timeline for Intended Parents

When you have chosen surrogacy to expand your family, you will likely be wondering just how long it will be before you will finally be able to hold your baby and how long the entire surrogacy process is.

The length of each individual surrogacy arrangement will vary on a case-by-case basis, but many families find that they are able to complete the process from start to finish within eighteen months. Continue reading to learn more about the factors that will contribute to the timeline for your surrogacy arrangement as an intended parent.

Matching with Your Surrogate

After you file your application to enter into a surrogacy arrangement with Baby Steps Surrogacy Center, Inc. by your side and have been properly screened as intended parents, you will then need to be matched with your surrogate mother.

Each surrogate is screened to ensure optimal physical and mental health. Once they have been approved as possible surrogates, their profile will be given to you to review. If you happen to find a potential surrogate mother from the profiles we have provided to you, you will then meet with your potential surrogate and see if you both wish to move forward into the next phase of the surrogacy.

Building Your Surrogacy Contract

When you have chosen your surrogate and they have agreed to carry your child, you will then need to build your surrogacy contract with one of our highly trained surrogacy attorneys.

We will ensure that every detail is considered in your contract, including a pre-birth order, which type of surrogacy you will be choosing, what will happen in every emergency situation imaginable, and how the surrogate mother will be compensated.

Then, once both parties have signed their surrogacy contract, the surrogacy mother will undergo intrauterine insemination or in vitro fertilization (IVF) in order to become pregnant. After the surrogate mother is officially pregnant, all that is left is the duration of the pregnancy, labor, and delivery until you are finally able to hold your baby in your arms.
