How Much Does a Surrogate Cost?

How Much Does a Surrogate Cost?

When you consider surrogacy for the first time, it can be overwhelming to realize how many factors go into the entire process. You will need to choose the perfect surrogate for your family, decide whether traditional or gestational surrogacy is right for you, make sure legal contracts are set up, pick a medical center for all of the future procedures to take place, and, not unimportantly, consider the costs.

At Baby Steps Surrogacy Center, Inc., we compile all of this information and try to make your surrogacy journey as seamless and enjoyable as possible. Having a baby is one of the most magical times in your life, and it should not be filled with anxiety or fear.

We will be transparent with you about all of the potential costs you may encounter along the way so that you feel prepared and excited for what is to come in your surrogacy journey and have an idea of how much a surrogate costs.

Medical Expenses

Medical expenses will be the core costs of your surrogacy experience. You will need to cover the costs of the pregnancy and any procedures that take place before the pregnancy, whether that be artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization, or the embryo transfer procedure.

You will also need to cover the prenatal care of your surrogate, the costs of any doctor’s visits she receives along the way, and the costs of the birth itself. If there are any unexpected complications or medical costs, you will be expected to cover these, as well.

Surrogate Compensation

Before moving forward with surrogacy, you may decide on a base compensation to pay your surrogate. She is offering an invaluable service to you by giving up her body for a period of time, so this fee will serve as repayment. In the surrogacy contract, there may be certain contingencies that come with this fee, such as making sure the surrogate mother takes proper care of herself during the pregnancy.

Legal Fees

You will need to cover any legal fees associated with the surrogacy, which can include writing up the surrogacy contracts and making sure you are given legal parental rights to the child after birth. There are several legal considerations with surrogacy, and addressing these can come at a price.
